*There are cases where recently released data and detailed information in the database do not match up for reasons including different information sources, and discrepancies between preliminary reports and confirmed data.
On February 4, DesRosiers Automotive Consultants announced that approximately 114,000 light vehicles were sold in January, down 6.3% from December 2025, and down 2.9% from January 2025, even with 1 more selling day than last year.
The SAAR in January, meanwhile, remained at a robust 2.08 million, higher than anything in Q3 or Q4 2025.
January sales must be seen in light of the current severe weather experienced across upper North America, however, and may or may not be a harbinger for what is yet to come in 2026. The current economic environment of tariffs, counter-tariffs, and trade deals will surely be interesting to watch.
