Auto Shanghai 2025, officially known as the 21st Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). April 23 and 24 were press days, April 25-26 were trader days, and April 27-May 2 were days open to the general public. Nearly 1,000 companies from 26 countries and regions exhibited, and more than 100 all-new models were unveiled for the first time.

Japanese automakers are emphasizing localization in the increasingly competitive Chinese market and shortening the time from development to market launch. Toyota held the world premieres of the bZ7, a D-segment sedan from the bZ series, and the Lexus ES. Honda unveiled the second model in its Ye series of EVs for the Chinese market, the GAC Honda GT, and Dongfeng Honda GT. Nissan premiered its first PHEV pickup truck and announced that it will invest approximately JPY 200 billion in the Chinese market. Mazda unveiled the EZ-60, an all-new mid-size crossover electric SUV, its second NEV, scheduled for release in 2025.
