  Japanese OEMs are working to reduce CO2 emissions to meet the Japanese government's goals of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and achieving 100% electric vehicle sales for new passenger cars by 2035.

  As a precedent example of measures toward carbon neutrality in the automobile industry, this report presents recent developments in CO2 emission reductions at the plants of Japanese OEMs, based on the 2023 MarkLines automobile plant database.

  Each company is implementing various measures to reduce CO2 emissions, such as switching to renewable energy sources, including the introduction of solar power generation, optimizing energy-intensive painting processes, and using recyclable materials.
