Summary

The Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, Inc. (JSAE) hosted its No. 08-22 Symposium, "The Latest Trends in Electrified Vehicle Technology," on February 3, 2023, at the Large Training Room/Atrium of the Toyosu IHI Building in Tokyo. This symposium was organized by the Committee of the Electric Power Technology Division of the JSAE (Chairman: Mr. Takashi Majima), and at the technical session featured presentations by representatives of electric vehicle-related manufacturers, universities, research institutes, and others. The event was attended by more than 200 people, including online participants, and at the venue there were also exhibitions of electrified vehicles and parts related to the content of the presentations. The exhibition venue was located in an area open to the general public next to the "i-muse IHI History Museum" in the atrium on the first floor of the Toyosu IHI Building in Tokyo, and was attended by visitors and IHI employees during their lunch break.

On display were the all-new Honda Civic, Subaru Solterra, and a cutaway model of Toyota's 4th generation Prius, as well as a number of electrified powertrains and electrified components. Toyota in particular was displaying all the motors, PCUs, and power modules from the 1st to 4th generation Prius, as well as the 5th generation Prius transaxle and PCU, creating a museum-level assortment that traced the history of the hybrid vehicle's evolution.

This report introduces the content of the exhibition on electric vehicles and electric-related components, which was held alongside the symposium's presentations. The content of the presentations at the symposium will be presented in the next report.
