Following the recall notice of September 2015 involving the Volkswagen (VW) 2.0-liter diesel vehicles, California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of the United States are continuing investigations on VW's other vehicles. In November, it was confirmed that the defeat device was used in 3.0-liter models as well. Accordingly, the U.S. agencies issued an additional recall notice for approximately 85,000 VW vehicles, including Audi and Porsche.

In Europe, VW presented its recall solutions for 2.46 million vehicles fitted with EA 189 engines to German authorities at the end of November.

On December 10, a two-hour press conference was held with the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG, Hans Dieter Potsch, and the Chairman of the Board of Management (CEO), Matthias Muller, in the Group's headquarters in Wolfsburg. During the press conference, the VW Group executives explained about the progress of internal investigations and plans for the future.

The VW Group now faces recall issues, penal charges and collective lawsuits in Europe, North America, India, South Korea and Brazil.
