2013/09/04

Summary

2013 first half sales reach 602,000 units, hitting record high; monthly sales steady at 100,000-unit level

Total vehicle sales in Indonesia (wholesale basis) stood at 602,000 units in the first half (Jan.-Jun.) of 2013, up 12.5% year-over-year (y/y). The increase is the result of stronger demand backed by robust economic growth and a purchase rush prior to a cutback in the fuel subsidy which came into force in June. First quarter sales were up 18.0% y/y and also up 7.6% y/y in the second quarter. With monthly sales from January through June being steady at the 100,000- unit level (see Figure 2), first half sales hit a record high.
