Production volume of new energy vehicles (electric vehicles [EVs], plug-in hybrid vehicles [PHVs], and fuel cell vehicle [FCVs]; excluding vehicles equipped with lead-acid batteries) in November 2016 doubled from the previous month to 85,288 units. November production included plug-in hybrid special-purpose vehicles and fuel-cell special-purpose vehicles, which were produced for the first time. Looking at production share of new energy vehicles by vehicle type, production share of passenger cars shrunk to its lowest in 2016 to 48% due to the rapid production increase of buses and special-purpose vehicles. Production volume of new energy vehicles for the period of January to November 2016 increased by approximately 100,000 units year-over-year (y/y) to 399,000 units.
