 Production volume of new energy vehicles (electric vehicles [EVs], plug-in hybrid vehicles [PHVs], and fuel cell vehicle [FCVs]; excluding vehicles equipped with lead-acid batteries) in April 2016 in China increased by 264.4% year-over-year (y/y) and by 35% month-over-month (m/m) to 31,360 units. By vehicle type, passenger cars accounted for 66% and buses accounted for 33% of the new energy vehicle production share in April 2016. Of the new energy production share, passenger EVs accounted for approximately 50%. Production volume of special-purpose vehicles dropped from the 8% from the previous month to 1%. Production volume of new energy vehicles in the January to April 2016 period was 78,100 units.
