BYD's European sales for the first half (H1) of 2026 increased by 80% year-over-year (y/y) to 178,000 units. Europe has become BYD's largest market in terms of sales volume and has the highest growth rate among its operations outside China. Sales have grown significantly in markets such as the UK, Germany, and Italy. In Italy, in particular, sales of the ATTO 2 and other models have surged, placing it in the top 3 of the local BEV/PHV sales rankings.

BYD has been successively introducing BEVs (battery electric vehicles) and PHVs (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) in Europe, but in recent years, PHVs have rapidly grown to account for more of BYD’s European sales volume than BEVs. Initially, the company introduced the C-segment SUV Seal U to the European market, but it is expanding its PHV models and diversifying its segments in line with consumer needs, charging infrastructure, and the xEV policies in each country. The company is expanding its product lineup by introducing models that meet the needs of the European market, such as the Dolphin Surf, ATTO 2 DM-i, and Dolphin G DM-i, while also promoting local production at its Hungarian plant and other locations to reduce tariff and logistics costs.
