JMS 2023: Suzuki unveils eVX electric SUV and eWX Concept

On October 25, Suzuki Motor Corporation (Suzuki) debuted several electric vehicles (EVs) at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 (JMS 2023) being held at Tokyo Big Sight. Suzuki’s theme for the show is “Answers for Excitement throughout the World”. At the company's press briefing, President & Representative Director Toshihiro Suzuki appeared on the SUZU-RIDE electric mobility vehicle.

The electric SUV eVX, the first of Suzuki's global strategic EV models, is an electronically controlled four-wheel drive vehicle that delivers full-scale driving performance. The eVX measures 4,300mm (length) x 1,800mm (width) x 1,600mm (height) and is expected to have a cruising range of 500km. The exterior had already been unveiled at Auto Expo 2023 in India in January.

The company also held the world premiere of the eWX concept car, which features a friendly appearance. The model combines the practicality of a wagon with the advanced feel of an EV, and measures 3,395mm (length) x 1,475mm (width) x 1,620mm (height). The cruising range is expected to be 230km.

In addition, a Swift concept car was also unveiled. It is equipped with a highly efficient engine, DSBS II (Dual Sensor Brake Support II) collision mitigation brake system, AHS (Adaptive High Beam System), and more. Also on display are the e EVERY CONCEPT, a mini commercial electric van concept equipped with an EV system jointly developed with Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., and Toyota Motor Corporation, and the Spacia Concept (world premiere).

Carbon neutrality initiatives in India were also introduced. The biogas demonstration project, which will help realize carbon neutrality, plans to refine automobile fuel from methane derived from cow manure. A Wagon R model powered by this fuel was also exhibited.
