Under Suzuki's new mid-term management plan announced in February 2025, six BEV models will be introduced in Japan and four in India and Europe by FY2030. In November 2024, Suzuki Motor Corporation (Suzuki) already announced its first mass-produced EV, the “e VITARA”. Production is scheduled to start in the spring of 2025 at Suzuki’s Gurgaon Plant in India, with sales to begin in India, Europe, and other countries around the world from the summer onwards.
In July 2024, Suzuki Motor Corporation announced its technology strategy for the next 10 years at its Technology Strategy Briefing. Based on the concepts of "Smaller, Fewer, Lighter, Shorter, Beauty," the company's motto is "minimizing energy" throughout the entire lifecycle of a product, from materials to manufacturing, use and recycling. It aims to minimize energy consumption and CO2 emissions to the greatest extent possible. Through this initiative, Suzuki aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 in Japan and Europe, and in India by 2070, based on the requirement target dates set by each government.
Global sales in 2024 were 3,248,000 units, following a record high in 2018 (3,327,000 units). The company recorded record high sales in India of 1,791,000 units, accounting for more than half of Suzuki's total global sales and more than a third of the total domestic market in India.
This report focuses on an overview of the sales and production in India, Suzuki's largest market, as well as future trends in introducing battery electric, hybrid, and CNG vehicles based on the mid-term management plan.
