French car sales rise 9.4% in August

On September 1, the French Automobile Manufacturers Committee (CCFA) announced that August new car sales in France of 107,455 units had increased 9.4% from the same month one year ago.
New car sales for the first eight months of 2017 increased 4.2% from the same period in 2016 to 1,390,240 units.
August domestic brand sales of 54,556 units had increased 9.3% compared to the same month a year ago, capturing a market share of 50.8%.
PSA Group sales of 28,662 units increased 7.0% (26.7% share) while Renault Group sales of 25,884 units increased 12.3% (24.1% share).
Foreign brand sales in August of 52,899 units increased 9.5% (49.2% share).
Volkswagen Group sales of 13,995 units increased 6.2% (13.0% share), while Toyota Group sales of 5,688 units increased 15.7% (5.3% share).
BMW Group sales of 5,005 units increased 1.7% (4.7% share).
Nissan Group sales of 4,620 units increased 51.2% (4.3% share), while FCA Group sales of 4,456 units increased 17.8% (4.1% share).
Sales of light commercial vehicles (LCV) increased by 15.6% in August to 23,357 units.
Heavy commercial vehicle (5 tons or more) sales in August of 2,190 units increased 5.0% from the same month a year ago.
