On July 3, the Italian automobile manufacturers association (ANFIA) announced that passenger car registrations of 187,642 units in June increased 12.9% from the same month last year.
For the first half of 2017, passenger car registrations of 1,136,331 units increased 8.9% over the same period in 2016.
Domestic brand sales increased 12.9% in June with a 28.7% market share, while foreign manufacturer sales increased 12.9% with a 71.3% market share.
In June, Fiat brand registrations increased 15.8% (21.5% market share), Renault registrations increased 13.0% (7.6% share), Volkswagen brand registrations increased 4.7% (7.0% share), Ford registrations increased 17.8% (6.5% share), Opel registrations increased 7.6% (4.8% share), and Peugeot registrations increased 1.9% (4.3% share) from a year ago.
The best-selling cars in June, in order of popularity, were the Fiat Panda, Fiat Tipo, Fiat Punto, Fiat 500L, and Renault Clio.
The foreign car distributors association (UNRAE) announced that diesel passenger car sales in June increased 15.8% (58.8% share), gasoline-powered car sales increased 2.6% (29.6% share), hybrid car (HV) sales increased 100.4% (3.3% share), and electric vehicle (EV) sales increased 103.2% (0.1% share).
Private car sales in June decreased 3.1% to 97,310 units (51.5% share), fleet sales increased 43.0% to 44,987 units (23.8% share), and business sales increased 32.5% to 46,740 units (24.7% share).
