Adaptive driving beam (ADB) headlamps JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW BIZWEEK / CEATEC 2024 Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
Headlamp illumination patterns are controlled according to information from the vehicle's on-board camera about conditions in front of the vehicle. Exhibits include projector-type LED on/off ADBs and parabolic-type LED on/off ADBs. High-definition ADBs use 16,000 LEDs for more segmented and detailed lighting control, and are scheduled to go into production around 2025.
Medium range LiDAR for frontal surveillance, capable of detecting objects up to 175 meters away. Considering installing on roof tops and in front of windshield. Ready for production.
Headlamp concept with mid-range LiDAR built-in. LiDAR is mounted in headlamps to reduce space for LiDAR and improve design. Durability in high temperature environments is an issue.
Long-range LiDAR for frontal surveillance, capable of detecting objects up to 300 meters away. Considering placement on rooftop or in front of windshield. Development is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
Short-range LiDAR for peripheral surveillance, capable of detecting objects up to 40 meters away. The plan is to install the sensors at all four corners of the vehicle. Development is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
Demonstration of High-Definition ADB: The first image shows a high-definition ADB and the second image shows a conventional ADB. Compared to conventional ADB, the irradiation range is more precise.
