India's Compact SUV Market: Suzuki Victoris Gains Ground Through Product Competitiveness

In India’s compact SUV market, the Suzuki Victoris, launched in September 2025, has been selling well, with sales reaching 98,000 units in January–August 2026. Although this was below the 126,000 units recorded by the Hyundai Creta over the same period, the Victoris has been gaining ground as a key competitor to the Creta. Its strengths lie in a wide range of powertrains, including full hybrid, mild hybrid, and CNG versions, as well as a comprehensive package of safety and comfort features. In particular, the CNG version retains practical cargo space by positioning the tank beneath the vehicle floor. The Hyundai Creta, which remains the sales leader in India’s compact SUV market, saw its sales decline year on year in January–August 2026. A next-generation model is expected to be introduced in 2027, when seven new compact SUV models are also forecast to enter the Indian market. As competition intensifies, attention will focus on how the next-generation Creta strengthens its product appeal to meet the needs of a broad range of customers.
