Supply chain: Ford F-150 (USA)

Based on MarkLines' sales data, the Ford F-Series has maintained its position as the best-selling vehicle in the United States for many years. The Ford F-Series represents Ford's most critical vehicle lineup, encompassing light-duty full-size pickup trucks (F-150) and heavy-duty trucks (F-Series Super Duty). As the automotive landscape transitions through powertrains, Ford maintains a unique multi-energy strategy for the F-Series, offering traditional internal combustion engines (ICE), high-efficiency hybrid vehicles (HEV) featuring the 3.5L PowerBoost engine, and the fully electric F-150 Lightning (BEV). In December 2025, Ford announced that it would officially end production of the BEV model and transition to manufacturing the range-extender EV. The current F-150 belongs to the 14th generation, introduced in 2020. A full model change is scheduled in 2028. Manufacturing locations of F-150 are Dearborn MI (Michigan) and Kansas City MO (Missouri). Major suppliers include Adient (seats), Aptiv (radars and ECUs), and Autoliv (airbags).

Launch Schedule for Ford F-150

In the U.S. full-size pickup market, the Ford F-150 has maintained a leading position with its broad lineup of powertrains, body configurations and high-performance variants. The current 14th-generation F-150 was launched in 2020 for the 2021 model year, followed by a major refresh in 2023 for the 2024 model year. The lineup currently includes gasoline, FHEV and high-performance powertrains, while the F-150 Lightning introduced a fully electric option. Following the discontinuation of the current Lightning, Ford plans to introduce a next-generation F-150 Lightning with a range-extender EV (EREV/REEV) in 2029, further expanding electrified options within the F-150 lineup.

Yorozu Chairman Shido Interview

Becoming a “Company of Choice” Beyond Keiretsu Ties — Leveraging Operational Excellence and Standardization for Competitive Advantage

Yorozu has reduced the share of sales to Nissan from roughly 90% to less than 60% while expanding its customer base. In China, it adopted a locally led rapid development approach for Dongfeng Nissan’s N7 EV and N6 PHEV, while in Japan it is positioning its new Gifu plant, YSMC, as a model for advanced manufacturing. MarkLines interviewed Chairman and CEO Akihiko Shido about the role of keiretsu ties, competitiveness in the EV era, development in China, and the shop-floor capabilities and standardization required to remain a "company of choice."

Statistics

Mexico, August production volume declines 1.4%

Against the backdrop of a deteriorating export environment to the U.S. following the imposition of additional tariffs on U.S. automobiles and auto parts, as well as production adjustments at factories, output fell below the same month of the previous year for the fourth consecutive month. Nissan and Ford, in particular, saw significant production cuts. Meanwhile, GM drove overall output upward by increasing production of models such as the Silverado, and BMW, Hyundai, and Kia also exceeded the same month of the previous year; however, these gains were not enough to fully offset the overall decline in production.
