Indian passenger vehicle sales decrease by 13.3% in December, 2021
Indian passenger vehicle sales in December 2021 were down 13.3% y/y to 219,421 units.
Vehicle sales from October to December 2021 were down 12.4% y/y to 955,836 units.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were down 15.2% to 761,124 units (excludes BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo Cars). CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 0.9% to 194,712 units (excludes Daimler and Scania).
Based on the release of carmakers in December, the available sales results of PVs and CVs are as follows:
Maruti-Suzuki sales of 126,031 units decreased 14.0% in December compared to the same month in 2020.
Tata sales of 66,307 units increased 24.1% from last year.
Mahindra sales of 33,076 units increased 11.9% from last year.
Hyundai sales of 32,312 units decreased 31.8% from last year.
Toyota sales of 10,832 units increased 44.7% in December compared to the same month in 2020.
Honda sales of 7,973 units decreased 7.7% from the same month last year.
Kia sales of 7,797 units decreased 34.0% from last year.

Maruti-Suzuki sales of 113,017 units decreased 18.7% in November compared to the same month in 2020.

Indian passenger vehicle sales in September 2021 were down 41.2% y/y to 160,070 units.
Vehicle sales from July to September 2021 were up 5.6% y/y to 907,551 units.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 2.1% to 741,300 units (excludes BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo Cars). CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 24.5% to 166,251 units (excludes Daimler and Scania).
Based on the release of carmakers in September PVs and CVs, the available results are as follows:
Maruti-Suzuki sales of 66,415 units decreased 55.7% in September compared to the same month in 2020.
Tata sales of 55,988 units increased 26.1% from last year.
