-On March 26, 2024, Samvardhana Motherson International Limited (SAMIL) acquired an 81% stake in Yachiyo Industry's automobile business from Honda. As a result, Yachiyo Industry became part of the Motherson Group.
-Prior to the Motherson Group’s acquiring Yachiyo’s share, all shares the Company held in Koshi Giken Kogyo were transferred to Honda.
-The company adopted a new name on October 1, 2024. On that date, Yachiyo Industry Co., Ltd. became Motherson Yachiyo Automotive Systems Co., Ltd.

History

Apr. 1947	Eiichi Ohtake, currently a Special Advisor, personally established Ohtake Paint Shop at 7, Fujimi-cho, Itabashi-ku, Tokyo. Started the business of painting machine parts. In 1951, started painting of motorcycle components along with Honda's business expansion to Tokyo.
Aug. 1953	Established Yachiyo Painting Co., Ltd. to start baking finish business. Set up Narimasu Plant in Daiwa-cho, Saitama (currently Wako-shi) (closed in June 1962). Appointed as a plant for Honda.
May 1960	Established Suzuka Plant in Suzuka City, Mie, as a buffing and painting shop for motorcycle parts.
Sep. 1968	Changed the company name to Yachiyo Industry Co., Ltd.
Aug. 1972	Established Kashiwabara Plant in Saitama, starting assembly of Honda's mini-cars on an outsourcing basis. As a result, Honda invested in the Company, which then became a Honda affiliate.
Apr. 1973	Merged Yachiyo Press Industry Co., Ltd. with Shimizu Seisakusho.
Nov. 1974	Established Goshi Giken Co., Ltd. as a joint venture with Honda and Sankei Giken Kougyou Co., Ltd.
Feb. 1976	Started producing buggies for Honda at the Kashiwabara Plant on an outsourcing basis.
Feb. 1977	Started producing fuel tanks as automotive parts.
Jul. 1981	Relocated head office to Toshima Ward in Tokyo.
Jun. 1983	Established Yokkaichi Factory in Mie Prefecture as an automotive parts manufacturing facility performing stamping and welding operations.
Aug. 1985	Enhanced facilities at Yokkaichi Factory to produce trucks for Honda on an outsourcing basis.
Jan. 1986	Established the Tochigi R&D Center in Tochigi Prefecture.
Jun. 1986	Started producing sunroofs as part of its automotive-parts range.
Jan. 1989	Established Yachiyo of Ontario Mfg., Inc., which is a consolidated subsidiary, in Canada.
May 1996	Started contract production of Honda's mini passenger cars on a subcontracted basis.
Jun. 1996	Established Yachiyo Industry (U.K.) Ltd. (currently a consolidated subsidiary) in UK.
Jun. 1996	Established Unipart Yachiyo Technology Ltd. in UK, a joint venture with several local companies.
Jan. 1997	Established Siam Yachiyo Co., Ltd., which is currently a consolidated subsidiary, in Thailand.
May 1997	Relocated head office to Sayama, Saitama Prefecture.
Sep. 1997	Established Yachiyo of America Inc., which is a consolidated subsidiary, in the U.S.A.
Oct. 1997	Established AY Mfg., Ltd., which is a consolidated subsidiary, in the U.S.A. through its local subsidiary.
Jan. 1999	Established US Yachiyo Inc., which is a consolidated subsidiary, in the U.S.A.
Sep. 2000	Established Yachiyo Manufacturing of Alabama Llc. in the USA.
Apr. 2002	Established Yachiyo Zhongshan Mfg. Co., Ltd. in China.
Aug. 2002	Purchased shares of Goshi Giken Co., Ltd. and made it into its subsidiary. With this, the subsidiaries of Goshi Giken Co., Ltd., Uemura Tech, Shisui Tech, Goshi Tech, Siam Goshi Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Thailand) and Goshi-Thanglong Auto-Parts Co., Ltd (Vietnam) all became the subsidiaries of Yachiyo.
Dec. 2004	Cancelled its registration with the Japan Securities Dealers Association for over-the-counter trading and listed its shares on the JASDAC Stock Exchange.
Jul. 2005	Established Yachiyo Wuhan Mfg. Co., Ltd. in China, which is currently a consolidated subsidiary.
Oct. 2005	Acquired equities of AY Mfg. and Ltd. in the United States, which is currently consolidated subsidiary, and made it into its subsidiary.
Dec. 2006	Honda Motor Co., Ltd. became the Company's parent company, as Honda purchased the Company's shares through a takeover bid.
Apr. 2008	Established YG Tech Co., Ltd., a current consolidated subsidiary, in Mie Prefecture, Japan through a joint-investment pooled by Group companies.
Apr. 2008	Established Yachiyo India Manufacturing Private Limited, which is currently a consolidated subsidiary, in India.
Dec. 2008	Goshi India Auto Parts Private Limited, currently a consolidated subsidiary, started its operations in India.
Sep. 2009	Established Yachiyo de Brasil Industria e Comercio de Pecas Ltda. (currently a consolidated subsidiary) in Brazil.
Feb. 2012	Established Yachiyo Mexico Manufacturing S.A. de C.V., which is currently a consolidated subsidiary, in Guanajuato, Mexico.
Apr. 2012	Established the Saitama R&D Center in Sayama, Saitama Prefecture.
May 2012	Established P.T. Yachiyo Trimitra Indonesia.
Jun. 2014	Yachiyo of Ontario Manufacturing, Inc. in Canada transferred sheet-metal business to Matcor-Matsu Group of Companies.
Oct. 2014	Stamping operations of Yachiyo Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC (U.S.A) acquired by Unipres. Plastic fuel tank operations transferred to new production plant in Georgia. Adopted new name Yachiyo Manufacturing of America, LLC.
Dec. 2014	Established Yachiyo Germany GmbH.
May 2015	Reached basic agreement with Topre to start discussion that Yachiyo will transfer stamping operations in Japan to Topre.
Jun. 2015	Transferred all operations with H-One at UYT Ltd. (an affiliate company in the U.K.) to N Press Assembly Limited.
Jan. 2016	Completed the transfer of business operations of YG Tech, which was a consolidated company, to Topre, ending the Company’s operations in the sheet-metal business.
Mar. 2018	Yachiyo Industries Yokkaichi Works Co., Ltd. was consigned the vehicle-assembly business, starting the operations.
Apr. 2018	All stock shares of Yachiyo Industries Yokkaichi Works Co., Ltd. were transferred to Honda Motor Co., ending its consignment of assembling light vehicles.
Jul. 2023	Announced that it will sell Yachiyo Industry, a consolidated subsidiary, to the Motherson Group based in India.
Mar. 2024	Became a part of the Motherson Group as a result of Motherson’s acquiring Yachiyo’s shares.
Oct. 2024	Renamed Motherson Yachiyo Automotive Systems Co., Ltd.
