Business Overview

-The Company is a full-stack computing infrastructure company with data-center-scale offerings that are transforming industries. The Company primarily serves four separate markets: Gaming, Professional Visualization, Data Center, and Automotive.

-The Company’s operations related to the automotive market are comprised around providing platform solutions for automated driving and in-vehicle cockpit computing for applications such as infotainment and in-vehicle experiences. The Company also develops AI applications for in-vehicle use. It also provides a scalable data center-based simulation solution for digital testing, validation and development.

-In May 2020, the Company announced plans to enter the semiconductor market for technology that helps cars with various driver assistance features. The move represents a change in direction for the Company as robotaxis remain years away from mass adoption. Until now, the Company has supplied technology for heavily autonomous vehicles that require sophisticated computers. The shift in strategy is aimed to help automakers that struggle with maintaining two systems, one for ADAS features currently available, and one for advanced self-driving technology. The Company’s new system will be able to manage both types of autonomous features, saving engineering efforts and optimizing certain driver assistance functions. Its new technology will use the Orin processing chip launched in December 2019. The chips will be part of a larger system that includes cameras and will likely be built by traditional automotive suppliers such as Continental, ZF Friedrichshafen or Bosch. The Company expects vehicles with the new system could start production by early 2023.

  • Graphics: GeForce GPUs for gaming and PCs, the GeForce NOW game streaming service and related infrastructure, and solutions for gaming platforms; Quadro/NVIDIA RTX GPUs for enterprise design; virtual GPU software for cloud-based visual and virtual computing; automotive platforms for infotainment systems; and Omniverse Enterprise software for developing and operating metaverse and 3D internet applications
  • Compute & Networking: Data Center computing and networking platforms including Quantum for InfiniBand and Spectrum for Ethernet; NVIDIA Drive automated-driving platform and automotive development agreements; Jetson for robotics and other embedded platforms; NVIDIA AI Enterprise and other software; and DGX Cloud software and services

 

-The Company employs a fabless manufacturing strategy and does not directly manufacture the semiconductors used for its products. Instead, it utilizes suppliers such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and Samsung Electronics for all phases of the wafer manufacturing process. The Company also uses independent subcontractors for assembly, testing and packaging of its products, while performing quality assurance and configuration on incoming semiconductors itself.
