Business Overview

-The Company manufactures integrated circuits and discrete semiconductors through a combination of wholly owned manufacturing facilities, manufacturing facilities operated jointly with other semiconductor companies and third-party foundries and assembly and test subcontractors.

-The Company was formerly Philips's semiconductor division.

-The Company is a leader in high-performance, mixed-signal (HPMS) semiconductor solutions, and is especially strong in Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.

-In March 2015, the Company entered into a definitive agreement under which it would merge with Freescale Semiconductor Ltd. The merger was completed on December 7, 2015.

2006 Sold to a consortium of private equity investors and changed name to NXP.

Mar. 2015 Entered into a definitive agreement of merger with Freescale Semiconductor, Ltd. The merger consummated in December 2015.
Oct. 2016 Announced a definitive agreement with Qualcomm Incorporated under which Qualcomm will acquire the Company.
Jan.  2017 Announced a long-term strategic partnership with Geely Automobile Group.
Jun. 2017 Tied-up with  Elektrobit (EB), a developer of embedded and connected technology solutions for the automotive industry.
Jun. 2017 Expanded  its 15-year collaboration to speed up time-to-market for connected car solutions with Harman International.
Aug. 2017 Announced that it has entered into a Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement (“Agreement”) with Changan Automobile. The long-term partnership is a multiphase engagement.
