History

Jan. 1938 Originally founded as Fukuinsyokai Deki Sesakusyo by Noboru Matsumoto, to manufacture speakers in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo.
Aug. 1941 Established Fukuin Denki Seisakusyo.
May 1947 Established Fukuin Denki K.K. and merged Fukuin Denki Seisakusyo.
Aug. 1958 Built the Omori Plant in Ota-ku, Tokyo.
Aug. 1960 Built the Tokorozawa Plant in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture
Jun. 1961 Renamed Pioneer Corp.Securities Exchange
Oct. 1961 Listed on the second section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Nov. 1964 Relocated the head office to Ota-ku, Tokyo.
Mar. 1966 Established U.S. Pioneer Electronics Corp. in the U.S.
Aug. 1966 Established Tohoku Pioneer Corp. (currently one of the consolidated subsidiaries).

Nov. 1996 Spun off the Shizuoka Plant and established Shizuoka Pioneer Corp. (currently one of the consolidated subsidiaries).
Nov. 1999 Set up the "Procurement Center" to combine each group company's in-house procurement operation into one operation.
Mar. 2000 Tohoku Pioneer Corp. became a listed company on the second section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Apr. 2001 Established Pioneer China Holding Co., Ltd. in China
Jul. 2001 In US, consolidated Pioneer New Media Technologies, Inc., Pioneer North America Strategic Business Services, Inc. and Pioneer Electronics Service, Inc. into Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., the company's consolidated subsidiary.
Apr. 2003 The Company spun off the semiconductor business at Pioneer Video Corporation and turned it into a new company called Pioneer Micro Technology Corporation, which became a consolidated subsidiary.
Shizuoka Pioneer Corporation absorbed Pioneer Video and changed its name to Pioneer Display Products Corporation, becoming a consolidated subsidiary.
Sep. 2003 The stocks that the Company owned in Pioneer LDC Inc. and in Pioneer Entertainment (USA) Inc. were sold to Dentsu Inc.
Sep. 2004 The Company acquired all the outstanding shares of NEC Plasma Display Corporation and changed the name of the company to Pioneer Plasma Display Corporation, which became a consolidated subsidiary.
Jan. 2006 The Company's stock was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange, the Euronext Amsterdam, and the Osaka Securities Exchange.
Sep. 2007 Signed an agreement on business and capital tie-up with Sharp Corporation. Formed a capital tie-up in December 2007.
Oct. 2007 Became outright owner of Tohoku Pioneer Corp.
Sep. 2009 Launched an optical-disc joint venture with Sharp Corporation.
Moved the Company's headquarters to Saiwai-ku, Kawasaki-city, Kanagawa prefecture.
Feb. 2010 Formed a financial alliance with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation to strengthen their collaboration in the automotive electronics business.
Finalized a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation to forge a financial partnership in order for the two companies to develop and strengthen their commercial alliance in the area of electro luminescence (EL).
May 2013 Formed a financial alliance with NTT Docomo, Inc to strengthen their collaboration in the automotive electronics business.
Formed a financial alliance with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation to strengthen their collaboration in the automotive electronics business.
Jul. 2013 Consolidated operations of the home AV business into Pioneer Marketing Co., Ltd. and changed the corporate name to Pioneer Home Electronics Co., Ltd.
Dec. 2013 Merged Pioneer Benelux BV into Pioneer Europe NV.
Mar. 2014 Merged Pioneer Electronics Deutschland GmbH、Pioneer France SAS、Pioneer Italia S.p.A.、Pioneer Electronics Iberica SA、and Pioneer Scandinavia AB into Pioneer Europe NV.
Mar. 2015  Transferred the home AV business, telephone equipment business, and headphone business to Onkyo Corporation, along with the stock shares in Pioneer Home Electronics Co., Ltd.
Spun off operations of the DJ equipment business, naming it PDJ Holdings Co., Ltd.
Mar. 2016 Transferred the head office in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
Mar. 2019 Delisted as a result of the Company's being taken over by Hong Kong-based Bearing Private Equity Asia, which injected capital in Pioneer.
Oct. 2019 Established Pioneer Smart Sensing Innovations Co., Ltd., a new company that Took Over the business operations of Smart & Autonomous Mobility Business Group based in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo.
May 2020 Formed a strategic partnership with Continental to develop fully integrated cockpits. 
Jun. 2021 Formed a strategic partnership with Cerence Inc. based in the USA to develop infotainment solutions.
Aug. 2021 Establishes the SaaS Technology Center to push the SaaS business forward.
