Factors
1) AC (Automotive Components)
Automotive hydraulic shock absorption products (hydraulic shock absorbers, suspension systems, stay dampers)
-Sales, which were JPY 151.0 billion, fell 7.1% year-over-year (y/y) due to the effect of negative currency translation, in spite of the fact that overall sales were robust in and outside Japan.

Automotive hydraulic equipment (power-steering systems, vane pumps for CVTs)
-Sales, which were JPY 46.5 billion, increased 0.5% y/y, thanks to robust sales of electric power-steering systems and vane pumps for CVTs. However, sales of hydraulic pumps decreased.

Contracts

-The Company announced that its shock absorber with improved damping force performance has been adopted for Toyota Motor Corporation's new Prius. KYB optimized the shape of shock absorber components with computer analysis, and improved the response by rectifying the operating oil flow. The company realized a weight reduction of about 700 grams per vehicle by adopting hollow piston rods. (From an article in the Nikkan Jidosha Shimbun on May 28, 2016)
