Engine components business
Sales 26,260 22,425 17.1 The Company won as many orders as it planned as a result of its efforts to focus on its strategic products, namely connecting rods, cylinder heads and cylinder blocks.
Operating income 1,399 1,132 23.6 Capital investment in new plants and production lines increased, but the Company conducted continuous VE/CE activities and productivity improvement initiatives in order to reduce costs.

R&D

The total research and development expenses for the entire group was 269 million JPY in FY2006.

Capital investment in FY 2006 totaled 2,675 million JPY.
Out of the total amount, 2,514million JPY was spent for the engine components business.
