Italian passenger car sales rise 9.9% in August 2022
On September 1, the Italian automobile manufacturers association (ANFIA) announced that passenger car registrations of 71,190 units in August increased 9.9% over the same month in 2021.
Year-to-date sales decreased 18.4% with 865,044 cars registered in the first eight months of 2022.
In August, Fiat brand registrations increased 14.8% year-on year (15.1% market share), Volkswagen brand registrations decreased 0.6% (8.0% share), Ford registrations increased 19.6% (7.6% share), Toyota registrations increased 11.8% (6.3% share), Peugeot registrations increased 29.8% (5.3% share), and Audi registrations increased 41.2% (4.8% share) from a year ago.
The best-selling cars in August, in order of popularity, were the Fiat Panda, Fiat 500, Lancia Ypsilon, Ford Puma and Citroen C3.
The foreign car distributors association (UNRAE) announced that gasoline-powered passenger car sales in August increased 17.7% y/y to 19,204 units (26.7% share), diesel passenger car sales decreased 7.4% to 13,079 units (18.2% share), hybrid car (HEV) sales increased 36.3% to 28,079 units (39.0% share), plug-in hybrid car (PHEV) and REx combined sales decreased 16.1% to 2,721 units (3.8% share), and electric vehicle (EV) sales decreased 29.2% to 2,304 units (3.2% share).

Italian passenger car sales fall 0.8% in July 2022
On August 1, the Italian automobile manufacturers association (ANFIA) announced that passenger car registrations of 109,580 units in July decreased 0.8% over the same month in 2021.
Year-to-date sales decreased 20.3% with 793,856 cars registered in the first seven months of 2022.
In July, Fiat brand registrations decreased 6.9% year-on year (14.0% market share), Volkswagen brand registrations decreased 7.3% (9.0% share), Toyota registrations increased 24.9% (7.4% share), Renault registrations increased 12.1% (5.6% share), Ford registrations decreased 1.9% (5.1% share), and Peugeot registrations decreased 14.8% (4.8% share) from a year ago.
The best-selling cars in July, in order of popularity, were the Fiat Panda, VW T-Roc, Citroen C3, Lancia Ypsilon and Fiat 500X.
The foreign car distributors association (UNRAE) announced that gasoline-powered passenger car sales in July increased 8.9% y/y to 33,200 units (29.9% share), diesel passenger car sales decreased 10.1% to 22,967 units (20.7% share), hybrid car (HEV) sales increased 12.4% to 36,841 units (33.1% share), plug-in hybrid car (PHEV) and REx combined sales decreased 19.2% to 5,133 units (4.6% share), and electric vehicle (EV) sales decreased 29.2% to 3,617 units (3.3% share).

Italian passenger car sales fall 15.0% in June 2022
On July 1, the Italian automobile manufacturers association (ANFIA) announced that passenger car registrations of 127,209 units in June decreased 15.0% over the same month in 2021.
Year-to-date sales decreased 22.7% with 684,228 cars registered in the first half of 2022.
In June, Fiat brand registrations decreased 24.3% year-on year (13.2% market share), Volkswagen brand registrations decreased 24.9% (8.1% share), Peugeot registrations increased 18.4% (7.5% share), Dacia registrations increased 33.5% (7.3% share), Toyota registrations decreased 0.2% (6.6% share), and Citroen registrations decreased 18.7% (4.6% share) from a year ago.
The best-selling cars in June, in order of popularity, were the Fiat Panda, Dacia Sandero, Peugeot 208, Lancia Ypsilon and Dacia Duster.
The foreign car distributors association (UNRAE) announced that gasoline-powered passenger car sales in June decreased 17.7% y/y to 37,513 units (29.2% share), diesel passenger car sales decreased 21.5% to 26,665 units (20.7% share), hybrid car (HEV) sales decreased 9.4% to 37,391 units (29.1% share), plug-in hybrid car (PHEV) and REx combined sales decreased 1.2% to 7,073 units (5.5% share), and electric vehicle (EV) sales decreased 11.9% to 6,190 units (4.8% share).

Italian passenger car sales fall 15.1% in May 2022
On June 1, the Italian automobile manufacturers association (ANFIA) announced that passenger car registrations of 121,299 units in May decreased 15.1% over the same month in 2021.
Year-to-date sales decreased 24.3% with 556,974 cars registered in the first five months of 2022.
In May, Fiat brand registrations decreased 18.0% year-on year (16.1% market share), Volkswagen brand registrations decreased 15.3% (9.2% share), Toyota registrations decreased 1.4% (7.0% share), Peugeot registrations decreased 20.9% (5.3% share), Ford registrations decreased 21.6% (5.0% share), and Jeep registrations decreased 5.6% (4.7% share) from a year ago.
The best-selling cars in May, in order of popularity, were the Fiat Panda, Lancia Ypsilon, Fiat 500, VW T-Roc and Jeep Compass.
The foreign car distributors association (UNRAE) announced that gasoline-powered passenger car sales in May decreased 22.0% y/y to 34,893 units (28.4% share), diesel passenger car sales decreased 29.5% to 23,911 units (19.5% share), hybrid car (HEV) sales increased 1.8% to 41,127 units (33.5% share), plug-in hybrid car (PHEV) and REx combined sales decreased 3.5% to 7,476 units (6.1% share), and electric vehicle (EV) sales decreased 13.2% to 4,489 units (3.7% share).

Italian passenger car sales down 33.0% in April
On May 2, the Italian automobile manufacturers association (ANFIA) announced that passenger car registrations of 97,339 units in April decreased 33.0% over the same month in 2021. Year-to-date sales decreased 26.5% with 435,647 cars registered in the first four months of 2022.
In April, FIAT registrations decreased 37.2% to 14,601 units (15.0% market share), VW registrations decreased 38.1% to 8,487 units (8.7%), Toyota registrations decreased 11.8% to 7,140 units (7.3%), Ford registrations decreased 34.8% to 5,863 units (6.0%), Audi registrations decreased 25.4% to 4,492 units (4.6%).
The best-selling cars in April 2021, in order of popularity, were Fiat Panda, Ford Puma, Lancia Ypsilon, VW T-Roc and Dacia Sandero.
The foreign car distributors association (UNRAE) announced that gasoline-powered passenger car sales in April decreased 42.9% over the same month in four to 26,664 units (27.0% share), diesel passenger car sales decreased 38.5% to 20,762 units (21.0%), hybrid car (HV) sales decreased 18.0% to 34,524 units (35.0% ), plug-in hybrid car (PHEV) and REx combined sales decreased 17.1% to 5,552 units (5.6% ), and electric vehicle (EV) sales decreased 37.2% to 3,050 units (3.1%).

Italian passenger car sales fall 29.7% in March 2022
On April 1, the Italian automobile manufacturers association (ANFIA) announced that passenger car registrations of 119,497 units in March decreased 29.7% over the same month in 2021.
Year-to-date sales decreased 24.4% with 338,258 cars registered in the first three months of 2022.
In March, Fiat brand registrations decreased 41.0% year-on year (13.0% market share), Volkswagen brand registrations decreased 35.1% (7.4% share), Ford registrations decreased 29.2% (6.4% share), Toyota registrations decreased 15.5% (6.2% share), Citroen registrations decreased 20.7% (5.9% share), and Dacia registrations increased 26.0% (5.8% share) from a year ago.
The best-selling cars in March, in order of popularity, were the Fiat Panda, Citroen C3, Lancia Ypsilon, Dacia Sandero and Ford Puma.
The foreign car distributors association (UNRAE) announced that gasoline-powere passenger car sales in March decreased 37.6% y/y to 33,164 units (27.3% share), diesel passenger car sales decreased 39.2% to 25,541 units (21.1% share), hybrid car (HEV) sales decreased 14.8% to 39,420 units (32.5% share), plug-in hybrid car (PHEV) and REx combined sales decreased 21.5% to 6,083 units (5.0% share), and electric vehicle (EV) sales decreased 38.8% to 4,511 units (3.7% share).

Italian passenger car sales fall 22.6% in February 2022
On March 1, the Italian automobile manufacturers association (ANFIA) announced that passenger car registrations of 110,869 units in February decreased 22.6% over the same month in 2021.
Year-to-date sales decreased 21.1% with 218,716 cars registered in the first two months of 2022.
In February, Fiat brand registrations decreased 29.5% year-on year (14.5% market share), Ford registrations decreased 10.1% (7.8% share), Volkswagen brand registrations decreased 33.9% (6.6% share), Peugeot registrations decreased 35.1% (6.3% share), Toyota registrations decreased 26.2% (5.3% share), and Renault registrations decreased 19.6% (4.8% share) from a year ago.
The best-selling cars in February, in order of popularity, were the Fiat Panda, Lancia Ypsilon, Ford Puma, Fiat 500X and Dacia Sandero.
The foreign car distributors association (UNRAE) announced that gasoline-powere passenger car sales in February decreased 37.3% y/y to 29,669 units (26.4% share), diesel passenger car sales decreased 31.0% to 25,040 units (22.3% share), hybrid car (HV) sales decreased 7.5% to 38,533 units (34.2% share), plug-in hybrid car (PHEV) and REx combined sales increased 11.3% to 5,473 units (4.9% share), and electric vehicle (EV) sales decreased 8.2% to 3,175 units (2.8% share).

Italian passenger car sales fall 19.7% in January 2022
On February 1, the Italian automobile manufacturers association (ANFIA) announced that passenger car registrations of 107,814 units in January decreased 19.7% over the same month in 2021.
In January, Fiat brand registrations decreased 20.8% (14.9% market share), Ford registrations decreased 8.6% (7.6% share), Volkswagen brand registrations decreased 29.7% (7.3% share), Toyota registrations decreased 11.7% (7.0% share), Dacia registrations increased 42.6% (6.6% share), and Peugeot registrations decreased 27.9% (6.2% share) from a year ago.
The best-selling cars in January, in order of popularity, were the Fiat Panda, Dacia Sandero, Lancia Ypsilon, Ford Puma and Toyota Yaris Cross.
The foreign car distributors association (UNRAE) announced that gasoline-powered passenger car sales in January decreased 39.0% y/y to 29,659 units (27.2% share), diesel passenger car sales decreased 43.2% to 20,734 units (19.0% share), hybrid car (HV) sales increased 15.7% to 38,016 units (34.9% share), plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) and REx combined sales increased 45.3% to 5,461 units (5.0% share), and electric vehicle (EV) sales increased 46.5% to 3,658 units (3.4% share).
