Malaysian car production increase 2.1% in December, increase 1.2% for 2019
On January 22, Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced that new car sales of 54,842 units in December increased 13.8% over the same month in 2018.
PVs (passenger vehicles) sales were up 16.2% to 49,318 units. CVs (commercial vehicles) sales were down 4.1% to 5,524 units.
Total sales in 2019 totaled 604,287 units, a 1.0% increase from that of 2018.
The number of Malaysian car production for December increased 2.1% over the previous year to 43,299 units.
Full-year production of 571,632 vehicles in 2019 represented an increase of 1.2% from 2018.
MAA assumed that sales volume for January 2020 is expected to be slightly lower than December 2019 because of short working month due to Chinese New Year festive holidays.
