2011 passenger car sales by base model

The base model means the model that belongs to the OEM which developed it. Cars based on the Chinese models mean the models which Chinese local OEMs developed on their own, and they are generally sold under the Chinese brands. Cars based on the foreign models are the models which are developed by foreign OEMs and sold under the foreign brands or Chinese brands.

Recently, cars based on the Chinese models had increased their market share, although it declined to 35.9% in 2011, down by 3.4 percentage points over the previous year. Noteworthy is that Changan Automobile Group's share declined by 2.2 percentage points from 7.9% to 5.7% from the previous year level, because sales of its minivans and its own brand passenger car Aisvin plummeted. The shares of both Chery Automobile (from 4.9% to 4.4%) and BYD Auto (3.8% to 3.1%) also dropped.
