Summary
The 32nd GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) was held at ICE BSD in Tangerang, near Jakarta, from July 24 to August 3, 2025. The event is organized annually by the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (GAIKINDO), and other events include the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in February.
According to show organizer GAIKINDO, a total of 120 brands gathered at the event, including 44 automotive brands, 17 motorcycle brands, and other accessory and parts-related companies. Attendance was 485,569, over 10,000 more than last year's 475,084. There were more than 20,000 test drives.
Indonesia's car sales continue to be sluggish. According to GAIKINDO, new vehicle sales in July were down 18.4% year-over-year (y/y) to 60,552 units. On the other hand, sales of electric vehicles were strong, with 42,178 EVs and 2,088 PHVs sold in the January-July period. In addition, the Indonesian government is moving to end its import tariff exemption system for electric vehicles at the end of 2025.

Once again this year, BYD Co., Ltd. (BYD) attracted attention, showing off a wide ranging lineup from compact models to the luxury brand Denza. In addition, Chinese OEMs continue to gain momentum, with Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. (Chery) unveiling a new brand and the emerging EV company Guangzhou Xiaopeng Motors Technology Co., Ltd. (XPeng) exhibiting for the first time. GAC unveiled the Aion UT, which is CKD-assembled in Indonesia. Japanese automakers are not as active as they once were, and Korea's Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is being heavily affected by the onslaught of Chinese automakers.
