ReVision AD, ADAS & SDV Summit 2024

Ansys, Turing, Nissan, SBD Automotive, Aeris Communications

2024/11/11

Summary

The ReVision Autonomous Driving, ADAS & SDV Summit 2024 and ReVision Connected Car & UX Summit 2024 (organized by InBridges Co., Ltd. (ReVision Auto&Mobility)) were held on September 26-27, 2024 at the Belle Salle Kudan Hall conference center in Tokyo, Japan, where presentations were given by Ansys, Turing, Nissan, SBD Automotive, and Aeris Communications.

Lecture Summary

Ansys AD/ADAS (Autonomous Driving/Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) development requires a consistent and traceable development process from safety design to safety verification. The BMW Group and Ansys, Inc. (Ansys) jointly developed the required simulation tool chain to support the development and verification of ADAS-Level 3 functions (installed in the BMW 7 Series).
Turing As part of "Tokyo30,” Turing Inc. is developing an autonomous driving model that will be able to drive around Tokyo for more than 30 minutes without intervention using only cameras and AI by the end of 2025. In addition to an end-to-end method that uses multiple camera images as input and a neural network (NN) to output the vehicle's route, Turing aims to realize this using two generative AIs (the visual-language model Heron and the world model Terra that generates future predictions).
Nissan The OEM (Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.) is considering a high-profit business model that improves user experience (UX) through cross-industry collaboration and utilization of AI, and will expand its business into energy management, mobility, and smart city projects.
SBD Automotive Connected cars are not significantly different when viewed in terms of the value provided for users by OEMs at this time, but as SDVs evolve, the differentiating value will shift to providing "experiences" in combination with cloud services and data utilization.
Aeris Communications As a cloud service for the automotive industry based on the IoT communication infrastructure, this presentation outlines approaches for data acquisition and service management on both the cloud and in-vehicle sides, with a view to using data platforms to evolve ADAS and expanding future monetization areas.

Lecture Summary

In the AD (autonomous driving)/ADAS field, advances in generative AI and simulation technology are creating mechanisms that enable continuous evolution through connectivity (OTA) while linking vehicles with the cloud. The traditional idea of "total distance traveled" = "technology accumulation" is changing to "quantification/verification of scenarios through simulation and selection/experience of generative AI models to be used" = “technology accumulation”.

With the advent of SDVs, users are expecting an improved user experience (UX), and a variety of services are beginning to be provided through cross-industry collaboration and AI utilization. There are examples such as automatic billing just by plugging in an EV when charging, rather than individual payments as well as providing emergency call services across borders. More value-added services will be provided in the future.
