From September 4 to 10, 2023, the IAA Mobility took place in Munich for the second time at the Messe Munich exhibition center.

The overall concept remained more or less the same as two years ago, but the separation between the so-called “Summit” and the “Open Space” downtown has become even clearer.

At the Munich exhibition grounds, where the IAA Summit was held, trade visitors were offered an exclusive platform to exchange ideas and deepen strategic partnerships with industry experts, innovators, and visionaries. The high entrance fee kept consumers from visiting the fairgrounds.

This audience was offered the possibility to experience the latest mobility trends in the so-called Open Space, which was located in the city center of Munich.

IAA 2023 hosted around 750 exhibitors from 38 countries and attracted over 500,000 visitors - 100,000 more than two years ago at IAA Mobility 2021. The busiest day was Saturday, September 9, with more than 100,000 visitors exploring the Open Space.

Particularly noteworthy is the strikingly high number of Chinese exhibitors represented at the show who are trying to gain a foothold in Europe.

Negotiations concerning the next IAA Mobility in Munich two years from now have already begun.

This report examines current and future trends in car interiors, focusing on HMI technology, new steering wheel and seat functions, the use of sustainable, high-tech and decorative materials, and, last but not least, innovative panoramic sunroof technology.
