Similar to the German automakers at IAA 2017, western OEMs chose to showcase SUVs and crossovers to capitalize on the growing demand for vehicles in the segment. The vehicles displayed included subcompact crossovers such as the Ford EcoSport, and compact SUVs such as the Jaguar F-Pace, Citroen C3 Aircross, Dacia Duster, and Skoda Karoq. Automakers also displayed larger vehicles including the Land Rover Discovery SVX and Skoda Kodiaq. Overall, the focus on crossovers and SUVs showcased their importance to the plans of western automakers operating in Europe.

Beyond the number of SUVs and crossovers that were showcased, certain automakers highlighted concepts indicating their strategies regarding the future of the automotive market. The Renault Symbioz highlighted car connectivity, the Skoda Vision E emphasized the importance of electric vehicles, and the Borgward Isabella Concept served as a design study for the automaker.

This report is the third report which focuses on the vehicles displayed at the IAA 2017. This report will focus on vehicles showcased by Western OEMs outside of the major German automakers, including Skoda, Citroen, Opel, Jaguar Land Rover, Renault, Ford, SEAT, Dacia, and Borgward.
