  The following report outlines the use of major equipment on new and redesigned models (including one facelifted model) that already have been or will be released in and after February 2015 by PSA, Renault, FCA, GM, Ford, and Volvo in Europe.

  Volvo's flagship S90 and V90 are equipped with a variety of advanced safety systems such as Pilot Assist (helps the driver to stay in the lane and to maintain a preselected time interval to the preceding vehicle), a semi-autonomous driving system. Other new models including small vehicles have also adopted a number of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features. Automatic emergency brakes with pedestrian detection, which EuroNCAP started testing in 2016, are increasingly available. Moreover, an increasing number of new models support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which integrate smartphones with onboard systems.

  Among features for improving driving stability, utilization of driving mode selectors, which enable the driver to choose a driving mode according to road conditions and personal preferences, as well as active suspension that continuously controls damping force in response to driving conditions, are increasing utilized mostly in luxury vehicles.

  As for visibility improvement features, luxury vehicles as well as small cars have LED headlamps with glare free technology that provides outstanding lighting performance without blinding drivers in oncoming and preceding vehicles. Utilization of an auto high/low beam function has increased among a number of new models.

  For parking assistance features, installation of advanced park assist that finds an appropriate space and helps steer the vehicle into the space has expanded even to small vehicles and SUVs.

  Among comfort and accessibility features, hands-free tailgates that open and close by detecting a kicking motion under the rear bumper are increasingly being utilized. Adoption of hands-free sliding doors using a similar motion has started for MPVs.
