- The global Light Vehicle (LV) selling rate slipped back to 86.5 mn units/year in April, from 87.8 mn units/year in March. In year-on-year (YoY) terms, sales rose 77.6%, though this figure continues to flatter the market performance as it remains heavily distorted by widespread pandemic-induced shutdowns a year ago.
- In the US, sales raced ahead, while China’s sales figure was impacted by the auto chip shortage. Meanwhile in Europe, differing forms of restrictions in several markets suppressed any meaningful improvement on the previous month.
