Summary
- The global Light Vehicle (LV) selling rate rose to 87.5 mn units/year in March, a welcome improvement from 81.8 mn units/year in February. Sales improved by 52.7% year-on-year (YoY), though this figure is heavily distorted due to the profound impact of the pandemic this time last year.
- Better results came from the US, where sales were helped on by the recent stimulus package, as well as China, where consumer confidence has returned to a pre-pandemic level. On the flip side, while West European sales improved, the increase was blunted as several key markets faced additional virus-related restrictions.
