- Global Light Vehicle (LV) sales fell 7% in year-on-year (YoY) terms in May, though the selling rate rose to 89.7 mn units/year, from 88.7 mn units/year in April.
- Although the selling rate improved slightly in May, the Global automotive industry is enduring a sustained downturn not seen since the Great Recession. The continuing slowdown in China was once again the main factor behind May’s YoY decline, while the US and Western European markets stagnated, with Japan the only real bright spot.
