On April 18, Dongfeng Forthing officially introduced the new Xinghai New Energy Vehicle (NEV) family and started accepting pre-orders for the Xinghai V9 luxury flagship plug-in hybrid MPV, the first production model of the family. The vehicle is available in six variants, with prices ranging from CNY 179,900 to CNY 279,900. Also unveiled was the Xinghai S7 battery electric sedan, which will be exhibited at the Auto China 2024.

Adopting two oriental aesthetic exterior designs, the Xinghai V9 measures 5,251mm, 5,248mm, or 5,230mm long, 1,920mm wide, and 1,820mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,018mm.

Equipped with a 113kW/230Nm C15TDE Mach plug-in hybrid engine and a 150kW/310Nm drive motor, the Xinghai V9 delivers a combined system power of 228kW and a combined system torque of 540Nm. A 20.1kWh or 34.9kWh battery completes the powertrain, with respective CLTC electric-mode ranges of 100km and 200km, respective CLTC combined ranges of 1,200km and 1,300km, and respective CLTC fuel consumption of 5.4L/100km and 5.27L/100km at the lowest charge.

The Xinghai V9 contains a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel and a 12.3- or 16.2-inch HD LCD center console display. Some variants are available with configurations and features such as a 12.3-inch front passenger display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, the Tencent TAI 4.0 in-vehicle system, OTA update, and a Level 2+ intelligent driver assistance system.

For the Xinghai family, 13 NEVs will be introduced in the next three years, and CNY 20 billion is expected to be continuously invested by 2030.

On April 15, multiple sources reported that DR Automobiles Group had signed a new strategic agreement with Dongfeng. The collaboration will involve the relaunch and development of three new Tiger brand vehicles, which will be launched and distributed by the Molise brand in Italy and other European markets in H2 2024. The Tiger Sportscar brand is a UK-based kit car manufacturer which was sold to DR Automobiles in 2022.

According to sources, the lineup will consist of a 4.5-meter SUV with a 177hp 1.5 turbo gasoline/LPG engine with Thermohybrid technology and a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The range will also include a 4.85-meter minivan with a 197hp 1.5 turbo engine, with a Thermohybrid dual gasoline/LPG fuel engine. Additionally, the third model will be a 5.2-meter multi-space vehicle with 7 seats in a 2+2+3 configuration, featuring full hybrid gasoline technology.

Italian engineers along with their Chinese counterparts will design the models, considering European stylistic preferences and regulatory requirements. The cars will be manufactured in China following the guidelines from the Italian research center and later will be finished at the DR Automobiles assembly plant in Macchia d'Isernia, Molise, Italy.

On April 2, Dongfeng eπ announced that the new eπ 008 6-seater SUV, its second model, will be debuted at the Auto China 2024 in Beijing.

The eπ 008 is reportedly to be available in plug-in hybrid and battery electric variants.
