On June 5, Dongfeng Motor Corporation (Dongfeng Motor) released its sales and production report for May. Production in May totaled 236,019 units, reflecting a 9.0% y/y decline. Sales totaled 224,954 units, a decline of 11.1% y/y. Year-to-date (YTD) sales from January to May totaled 1,126,465 units, a 10.7% decline compared to the same period in the previous year.
The sales of passenger vehicles in May totaled 184,491 units, indicating a 12.8% y/y decline. YTD sales for passenger vehicles totaled 923,762 units for y/y decline of 13.6%. The sales of commercial vehicles totaled 40,463 units, a 2.7% y/y decrease. YTD sales for commercial vehicles totaled 202,703 units for a 5.1% y/y increase.

On May 29, Dongfeng Renault Automotive Company (Dongfeng Renault) and Shenma Chuxing signed a strategic cooperation agreement covering NEV sales and offline sales resources integration in China. As a reesult, Dongfeng Renault NEVs will be sold on Shenma Chunxing’s retail platform with Renault City K-ZE as the first model.
Renault Group plans to launch eight EVs globally by 2022 and three in Chinese market. The first model, City K-ZE(EV SUV) developed for the Chinese market, was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show and will be released in the second half of this year.
Shenma Chunxing is a retail trading service platform focusing on NEV sales in regional hub cities and has extended its service in 30 provinces in China.

On May 28th, Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFMC) announced the launching of DFGO, a transportation service platform of Dongfeng Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd., providing car-hailing services in Wuhan, Hubei Province. DFGO will at first provide 1,000 vehicles and plans to provide a total of 5,000 vehicles in Wuhan in 2019. DFGO will offer transportation services including ride sharing, pick-up car hailing, car sharing, taxi-hailing, charging, bus, commuting, and logistics.
Dongfeng has announced a three-step development strategy for DFGO. First, it will invest in 10,000 vehicles in three demonstration cities, Wuhan, Shiyan, and Xiangyang. In the second step, the number of vehicles will increase to 100,000 and will be deployed in the other cities of Hubei Province following the same model as the three demonstration cities. Finally, DFGO plans to expand to 500,000 vehicles and apply the same model in the rest of China.
DFGO has established five service centers and a charging network that covers the entire Hubei Province with 470 charging stations and over 4,000 chargers. DFGO has also established the first driver’s university, to provide strict training for registered drivers.
