Indian new vehicle sales increased by 1.0% in October, 2017  

Indian new vehicle sales in October 2017 were up 1.0% y/y to 349,630 units versus 346,246 units in October 2016.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were down 0.3% to 279,837 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 6.4% to 69,793 units.
By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were down 5.3% to 184,666 units versus 195,036 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were up 12.4% to 79,323 units. Vans sales were up 5.0 % to 15,848 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were up 0.9% to 26,158 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 10.1% to 43,635 units.
Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 9.9%. Hyundai was down 0.9% and Mahindra was down 0.2%. Tata Motors was up 5.2% in October 2017.
