Spanish car sales increase 13.0% in August

On September 1, the automobile manufacturers association of Spain (ANFAC) announced that passenger car registrations of 72,410 units in August 2017 represented an increase of 13.0% over August 2016.
Passenger car sales of 849,851 units in the first eight months of the year represented a 6.9% increase from the same period in 2016.
Volkswagen brand sales increased 7.1% to 5,251 units, Renault sales increased 16.5% to 5,137 units, Toyota sales increased 20.2% to 4,994 units, Peugeot sales increased 11.6% to 4,803 units, and SEAT sales increased 22.9% to 4,537 units in August 2017.
The best-selling cars in August, in order of popularity, were the VW Golf, Dacia Sandero, SEAT Ibiza, Renault Megane, and Citroen C4.
Of all vehicles sold in August, gasoline vehicles had a 44.7% market share, diesel vehicles had a 48.3% share, and hybrid car (HV) and electric vehicles (EV) combined had a 6.9% share.
Private car sales in August increased 8.5% to 45,318 units, business sales increased 19.2% to 23,567 units, and fleet sales increased 41.0% to 3,585 units.
