French car sales fall 6.0% in April, up 2.0% in first four months of 2017

On May 2, the French Automobile Manufacturers Committee (CCFA) announced that April new car sales in France of 171,879 units had decreased 6.0% from the same month one year ago, based in part on two less selling days in the month in 2017.
New car sales for the first four months of 2017 increased 2.0% from the same period in 2016 to 712,933 units.
April domestic brand sales of 93,492 units had decreased 6.8% compared to the same month a year ago, capturing a market share of 54.4%.
Renault Group sales of 43,169 units decreased 8.3% (25.1% share) while PSA Group sales of 50,319 units decreased 5.3% (29.3% share).
Foreign brand sales in April of 78,387 units decreased 5.0% (45.6% share).
Volkswagen Group sales of 21,510 units decreased 8.5% (12.5% share), while BMW Group sales of 6,548 units decreased 10.8% (3.8% share).
Daimler Group sales of 5,190 units decreased 7.3% (3.0% share).
Ford sales of 6,854 units decreased 6.4% (4.0% share), while FCA Group sales of 7,110 units increased 4.8% (4.1% share).
Toyota Group sales of 6,787 units in April increased 0.5% (3.9% share).
Nissan Group sales of 6,013 units decreased 5.2% (3.5% share).
Sales of light commercial vehicles (LCV) increased by 0.2% in April to 36,320 units.
Heavy commercial vehicle (5 tons or more) sales in April of 4,222 units decreased 4.5% from the same month a year ago.
