Reported on October 25, 2021, Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) has expressed interest in investing in Indonesia’s EV supply chain, according to the Indonesian government. Indonesia Investment Minister met Foxconn chairman on October 22 to follow up a virtual meeting held in August on the manufacturer’s investment interest. Foxconn was interested in developing the electric car, electric scooter and EV battery industries in Indonesia, while also aiming to partner with local small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The meeting was also attended by a Taiwanese electric scooter with swappable batteries developer Gogoro, who is currently partnering with Foxconn. Gogoro said it started in Taiwan and saw that Indonesia was the right place for the firm to develop electric scooters.

On October 20, 2021, MIH Consortium showcased, for the first time, its Open EV Software Platform at 2035 E-Mobility Taiwan exhibition in close partnerships with Arm, Microsoft and Trend Micro.
The MIH Consortium is the legal entity founded by Foxconn Technology Group, and officially started operation from August 2, 2021. “To shorten development cycle and lower entry barrier, MIH is creating an Open EV Platform for the Software-Defined Vehicles future. The Open EV Platform consists of hardware and software that covers the full lifecycle of EV development, testing and deployment. It also enables the creation of Open EV marketplace.” said Mr. William Wei, CTO at MIH Consortium.
Key software platform demonstrations at the exhibition include as follows: Security Platform, Cloud Native Dev Platform, Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) / Autonomous Driving (AD) Dev Platform, Energy Management Platform, EEA and Runtime, Open Marketplace.
The MIH Consortium also announced key partnerships with Arm, Microsoft and Trend Micro. SOAFEE, initiated by Arm and now led by the SOAFEE Special Interest Group (SIG), is a new software architecture and open-source reference implementation, and two new reference hardware platforms, included as part of the Open EV Platform. Microsoft Azure provides advanced cloud computing technologies to create new experience and application development for Open EV Platform. Trend Micro provides the first development and implementation of Open EV Platform's security framework and interface based on Secure by Design concept.
More of exhibiting partners include ADLINK, eTreego, Hsin Chong Machinery Works, iNago, Nidec, Rescale, Tier IV, TomTom, and others.

On October 18, 2021, Yulon Group announced Model C and Model E electric vehicle prototype models are expected to become the next-generation models of Luxgen brand.
Foxconn Technology Group (Hon Hai) on the same day unveiled three electric vehicle prototype models including the above two models and Model T electric bus during the Hon Hai Tech Day 2021 (HHTD21) event. These models are Foxtron Vehicle Technologies' research and development results using its modular open platform.
Foxtron was established by Foxconn and Yulon in November 2020, as the company in Taiwan that covers vehicle design, engineering development and system validation capabilities. Yulon's Luxgen brand will be the first key partner to adopt Foxtron's product platform.
The Model C is positioned as the intrinsically optimized electric SUV with pure electric nature. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km in 3.8 seconds and delivers an extended range of 700 km. The Model E, jointly developed with Italian design firm Pininfarina, is a technologically innovative luxury flagship sedan. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km in 2.8 seconds and delivers an extended range of 750 km.
