On July 16, Allison Transmission announced that it has delivered more than 10,000 units of the Allison 1000 xFE fully automatic transmissions for the Hyundai Mighty since its launch in 2020.

Half of all Hyundai Mighty2.5- and 3.5-ton light-duty trucks sold today are equipped with Allison fully automatic transmissions, up from 10% versus four years ago.

The Allison 1000 xFE fully automatic transmission utilizes a patented torque converter, which offers superior performance and eliminates clutch replacements.

The Allison 1000 xFE offers improved launch performance, increased productivity, smoother shifting, easier operation and enhanced driver comfort, as compared to competitive manual and automated manual transmissions (AMTs).

"The rise in popularity of fully automatic transmissions in Asia is a testament to the exceptional driving experience and unmatched performance that our transmissions offer," said Heidi Schutte, Allison Transmission Vice President EMEA, APAC & South America Sales.

On July 13, Infineon Technologies AG announced that it has developed an easy-to-use cockpit solution with MediaTek and its design house partners. It is based on Infineon's TRAVEO CYT4DN MCU family and an entry-level MediaTek Dimensity Auto SoC solution that reduces system BOM costs for hardware and software.

This new cockpit solution supports a resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels for clusters and the in-vehicle infotainment display. The cluster display is driven by the ASIL-B-compliant TRAVEO CYT4DN MCU, ensuring high reliability.  It also simplifies the software and significantly reduces the software cost, as the SoC runs on the open-source Android operating system, eliminating the need for a hypervisor and a large commercial operating system.

The Infineon CYT4DN MCU works as a safety companion to the SoC to meet the ASIL-B safety target for automotive clusters.  The TRAVEO MCU monitors the content rendered by the SoC and takes over with reduced functionality in case of an error, in addition to normal companion functions such as communication with the vehicle network.
