On February 21, MediaTek and Autotalks announced that they are cooperating on integrating V2X and telematics.
As part of the cooperation, the two companies have completed a joint reference design for Telematics Control Unit (TCU) integrated with a global V2X chipset.
The joint design can serve as a reference to car-makers and Tier-1s for an optimal, cybersecure and flexible telematics unit integrated with physically isolated global V2X chipset to ensure domain separation between safety (V2X) and telematics (Vehicle to Network – V2N) domains.
In terms of technological versatility, Autotalks’ and MediaTek’s solution is global and offers a single configurable platform supporting both DSRC and C-V2X/LTE-V2X. Separating the telematics unit from the NAD yields flexibility and benefits in terms of cybersecurity: an attack on the NAD does not propagate to V2X and the physical isolation helps simplify the certification process.

Energy Absolute Public Company Limited Thailand (EA) revealed that the company has signed the Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Taiwanese government on October 8, 2018 at Taiwan Business Alliance Conference in Taipei. EA will be supported by the Taiwanese government to continue the company’s plan about energy storage for electric power industry and electrified vehicle industry. The company believes that this cooperation with Taiwan will pave the way for other Thai manufacturers, to play bigger roles in the world market.
This cooperation is made, mainly because the Taiwanese government saw strong intention of EA to invest in energy storage (battery) industry as EA decided to hold 70% of Amita Technologoes Inc. shares and aiming to push Amita to become one of the world leading storage battery manufacturing companies. EA is now preparing for the investment on new (50 GWh) battery manufacturing plant.
EA also believes that the support from the Taiwanese government will lead to the company’s good relationship with Taiwanese companies in a long term as well.
