JATCO Ltd. Business Report FY ended Mar. 2018

New Company

-In July 9, 2018 the Company established its second corporation in China, JATCO (Suzhou) Automatic Transmission Ltd. The new company is scheduled to launch commercial production at the end of 2019. Its production capacity will be 480,000 units a year and its employees will be more than 1,000 individuals.

Operations outside Japan


-On January 1, 2018 the Company announced that JATCO (Guangzhou) Automatic Transmission Ltd. , a subsidiary in China, had produced an aggregate total of 5 million units. This was achieved during the 10 years since the Company launched business operations in China. The subsidiary manufactures the CVT7 for small vehicles and the CVT8 for mid- and large-sized vehicles, manufacturing approximately 1 million units a year.


-The company announced that Plant No. 1 at Jatco Mexico in Aguascalientes had produced an aggregate total of 10 million CVTs over the 12 years since the plant first launched production in November 2005. Jatco Mexico, which was established in 2003, became the Company’s first production plant located outside Japan. This plant delivers the transmissions mounted on all of the vehicles built by Nissan in Mexico. Jatco Mexico has an annual production capacity of 1.7 million units.

-In April 2018, The Company announced that it has established a quality check track to test vehicles, near the Fuji area of Japan. The track has a straight course that is 313 meters long and 4.5 meters wide, in addition to a course with curves. The surface is composed of three layers of asphalt to test various degrees of driving behavior as well as high-speed driving behavior. This track was built to improve product quality based on the Company’s evaluating different phenomena that occur when CVTs, etc. are mounted on vehicles, and then evaluating the results. This is an opportunity to provide customers products that have undergone actual onboard vehicle testing, raising their commercial appeal.
