Business Overview

-The Company has the leading share in the global brushless motor market, and the largest market share of automotive power steering motors, according to the Company's publications.

-The production groups consist of the following product areas: Small precision motors; Automotive, appliance, commercial and industrial products; Machinery; and Electronic and optical components.

Business Highlights

-In the fiscal year that ended in March 2016, sales were JPY 1.1783 trillion, with small precision motors accounting for 38.0%; appliance, commercial, and industrial products accounting for 24.1%; and automotive products accounting for 23.0%.

-Shifting the business portfolio more toward the automotive sector was the basis for success. The fourth-quarter profit margin for automotive, home-appliance, commercial, and industrial products in the fiscal year that ended in March 2016 was 10.4%, which is the first time ever that the profit margin exceeded 10% for any one quarter.


-In the fiscal year ending March 2021, the Company is targeting sales of JPY 2 trillion, with automotive products accounting for JPY 700.0 billion-1 trillion yen. Making products globalized, electrified, and modularized, the Company is aiming to a gain 50% of the world market share for electric power steering (EPS) motors.

-The Company has expanded its scope of business through mergers and acquisitions, and currently has an extensive product lineup. In March 2014, the Company acquired 100% of the shares in Honda Elesys Co., Ltd. (currently Nidec Elesys Corporation). In February 2015, the Company acquired GPM of Germany, currently named Nidec GPM.
