-In April 2004, Nippon Battery and Yuasa Corporation, both major battery manufacturers, merged and established GS Yuasa Corporation as a holding company. GS Yuasa Corporation's subsidiaries operate in four business segments: automotive batteries, industrial-battery power supplies, automotive lithium-ion batteries, and others.

History

GS Yuasa Corporation's Milestones

Apr. 2004 Japan Storage Battery Co., Ltd. and Yuasa Corporation transferred their shares, established a holding company and became fully-owned subsidiaries of the holding company. The holding company's ordinary shares were listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the first section of the Osaka Stock Exchange.
Jun. 2004 The two companies demergered themselves and established GS Yuasa Manufacturing Ltd., GS Yuasa Battery Ltd., GS Yuasa Power Supply Ltd., GS Yuasa Technology Ltd., GS Yuasa Power Electronics Ltd., GS Yuasa International Ltd., GS Yuasa Business Support Ltd., GS Yuasa Information Ltd. and GS Yuasa Accounting Service Ltd., reorganizing their operations.
Oct. 2004 Japan Storage Battery Co., Ltd. spun off its lighting segment into GS Yuasa Lighting Ltd.
Jan. 2006 GS Yuasa Manufacturing Ltd., GS Yuasa Power Supply Ltd., and GS Yuasa Industry Ltd. were merged, and the new company name was started as "GS Yuasa Power Supply Ltd."
Jan. 2007 GS Yuasa Power Supply Ltd.; GS Yuasa Manufacturing Ltd.: and GS Yuasa Industry Ltd. were consolidated and renamed as a new company, GS Yuasa Power Supply Ltd.
Mar. 2007 GS Yuasa International Ltd. and GS Yuasa Development Ltd. were consolidated and renamed as a new company, GS Yuasa International Ltd.
Dec. 2007 Established Lithium Energy Japan jointly with Mitsubishi Corporation; and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation.

Increased 33,021 million yen in capital through a public stock offering, allocating the new stock to third parties.
Apr. 2010 Transferred part of the Company's operations to GS Yuasa Power Supply Ltd.
Merged GS Yuasa Power Supply Ltd.; GS Yuasa International Ltd.; and GS Yuasa Business Support Ltd. In addition, GS Yuasa Power Supply remained as a stand-alone company, but it was renamed GS Yuasa.
Dec. 2010 Further invested in PT. Trimitra Baterai Prakasa, an affiliate company; as a result of increasing the shareholding ratio, the company became a non-consolidated company accounted for under the equity method.
Mar. 2012 Established the first factory building of Lithium Energy Japan in Ritto City in Shiga Pref. and commenced production.
May 2013 Acquired an additional stake in Thai affiliate Siam GS Battery Co., Ltd., making it a subsidiary.
Oct. 2015 Inci GS Yuasa Aku Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi established in Turkey jointly with Inci Holding A.S
Oct. 2016 Completed the transfer of Panasonic Corporation's lead-acid battery business and was renamed GS Yuasa Energy Co., Ltd.
Oct. 2017 Established GS Yuasa Hungary Limited Liability Company, making it a subsidiary.
Sep. 2018 Acquired an additional 14.9% of GS Yuasa Energy Co., Ltd. stock and made its stake share 100%
Apr. 2022 Moved to the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange due to the TSE's reorganization.
May 2022 Acquired additional stock shares in Inci GS Yuasa Aku Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi, turning it into a consolidated subsidiary.
