1) Net Sales
-In the fiscal year ended December 31, 2014, the Company's sales increased by 4.5% over the previous year to EUR 2,795.2 million. Excluding currency effects, the Company had a growth rate of 8.9% over the previous year. Despite difficult market conditions in Brazil, sales in the Automotive Original Equipment Business Unit increased for the fifth consecutive year, due to improved sales in Europe, North America, and Asia.

R&D Structure

-As of December 31, 2014, the Company has over 1,000 employees working in research and development.

Patents

-In the fiscal year ended December 31, 2014, the Company submitted 230 patent applications for approval.

R&D Facilities

-The Company announced that it will increase its R&D capacity in China. The Company's China R&D center will install equipment to test air conditioner filters (for filtering out PM 2.5 particles), liquid filters, and intake manifolds. In addition, the Company will establish a semi-anechoic room and introduce NVH measurement equipment to the facility. (From a press release on May 6, 2014)

-The Company expanded its service center in Bangalore, India in both automotive filter and industrial filter areas. The expansion allows the Bangalore facility to cooperate with R&D centers in Ludwigsburg, Speyer, and Himmelkron, Germany to complete product development processes. Furthermore, the expanded facility is better equipped to support subsidiary companies in other regions.

Product Development

Multigrade O-M 15.3 filter medium
-The Company launched the Multigrade O-M 15.3 medium, a cellulose-based mixed-fiber medium used for filters. The 15.3 medium features a higher dust holding capacity than previous mediums due to a unique gradient structure. This feature supports the downsizing of components in the engine compartment.

-In the fiscal year ended in December 31, 2014, the Company's capital expenditure amounted to approximately 5.0% of its sales, an increase of 0.3 percentage points from the previous year.

-EUR 67 million of the total capital expenditure was invested in the Automotive Original Equipment Division, while EUR 56 million was invested in the Automotive Aftermarket Division.

Investments outside Germany


-MANN+HUMMEL USA, a subsidiary of the Company based in Portage, Michigan, announced the official opening of its new South Campus facility. The new 220,000-square-foot facility will produce air cleaner systems and battery frames and assemble intake manifolds and coolant reservoirs. A warehouse and distribution center is also located in the new facility. Approximately 200 associates will staff the facility by the end of 2014, bringing the total number of Company associates in Portage to 500. (From a press release on October 8, 2014)
