The Company exhibited displays in three business sectors: powertrain efficiency, driving assistance, and comfort enhancement.
"Powertrain Efficiency"
Camless Engine-Smart Valve Actuation (SVA)
- The Company is developing an electromagnetic valve actuation system. The camshaft of the engine was replaced by electromagnetic actuators that open and close each valve independently. The principle of the actuators is based on an oscillating mass-spring system with two magnetic coils holding the valve alternatively opened and closed.
- The Company is developing two different systems: one is called "full camless", as it manages the valves on both the intake and exhaust side of the engine. The other one is called "half camless", as it manages the inlet valves only. Each one includes the actuators, the Valve Control Unit (VCU), the wiring rail, and the Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
Features

- Increased low-end torque (15% to 20%) for improved acceleration, towing, and smoothness compared to camshaft controlled engines
- Shorter torque response time during transients

"Driving Assistance"

・This solution works as anti-lift system in high-speed driving, without the use of fins. It offers lowered wind noise and is being produced in Germany. In the EU, the Company is supplying them to Audi, VW, Volvo and Renault; and in the U.S., Toyota is featuring them on the Avalon.
Dynamic Bending Light
This lighting system includes motorized Bi-Xenon headlamps which swivel 15° in each direction from the front position and works on both high and low beam. The electronic control unit, which processes data supplied by the speed and steering angle sensors in real time, controls the direction of rotation of each lamp. The lamps therefore automatically provide a beam of optimum intensity to light up curves and bends on roads ahead. This system allows drivers to become aware of bend in roads sooner, as well as anticipate their driving accordingly.
By improving the visibility in bends by 90%, this innovation makes a significant contribution to road safety and driving comfort. A system for automatically adjusting the height of the beam also ensures maximum protection against dazzling bright lights from cars coming in the opposite direction.
The first application of this lighting system was for the PSA Peugeot Citoren C4 and C5. It was also adopted by four new German models, the Audi Q7, the BMW Series 1, the Opel Vectra, and the VW Passat.
LED Front Lighting Technology
LED Daytime Running Light, based on four white LEDs, provides increased traffic safety through improved recognition of oncoming traffic during the day-time. Compared with halogen low beams, LED DRLs can handle all front lighting and signaling functions such as indicators, low beams, high beams, as examples. Also, they achieve a 90% savings of energy and never need to be replaced over the entire car life.
Adaptive rear lamps with MicroOptics(TM) technology
The homogeneous luminous surfaces uses LEDs for the light source.
LaneVue(TM): This system is being adopted on two Nissan Infiniti models in the US market.

BSD (Blind Spot Detection): The Company developed its BSD system through using Raytheon radar, which is based on Blind Spot Detection (BSD) that uses sensors mounted on the sides and rear of vehicles. These radar sensors continuously monitor the areas around the rear and sides of the vehicle. Their unique design provides a broad viewing range of up to 40 meters. >>Technical Information
Power Closure System:
This trunk opening and closure system is operated by remote control, either directly on the door handle or from the driver's seat. This modular control unit is being installed on the new Audi A6 Avant and the VW Passat Estate.

Valeo Thermal Systems is responsible for comfort enhancement. Valeo has two other areas of business activities, namely driving assistance and powertrain efficiency.?

A seat module in which a climate-control system has been integrated.
-A thin seat climate-control module with compact blower and heater.
-It automatically controls airflow and temperature, and thus optimizes comfort level, as the system constantly compares the temperature of the cabin interior with that of seat.?

-In comparison with products having Pelier devices,? dozens of cost reductions were made possible. These modules can be applied to mid-range vehicles.?

* The Company will use the R744 refrigerant instead of? the R134a, which will shortly be banned in?Europe.
In comparison with the current R134a system:
-The condenser is a gas cooler, so no change for the R744.
-An internal heat exchange device, which was added, improves the efficiency of circulation.
-The R744 refrigerant is highly compressed (120 bars) in the externally controlled piston?compressor.?
-The same lines function for the evaporators, compressors, expansion devices, and A/Cs.
<Current Technology>
Jog Type Climate Control Panel
The Company exhibited Gear Train Jog (GTU)"? control panels that are unique, compact, light, and easy to operate.?
In comparison with conventional models, their main features are :
-They occupy at least 50% less space
-They weigh 30% less
-They have large-diameter rings?
These are being installed on the Nissan Tiida and Serena, the Subaru Forester, and the Suzuki? Escudo.

-This Domain aims to make vehicle use more practical and comfortable and is devoted to vehicle access and safety, and to the comfort and well-being of occupants.
New vehicle models equipped by the Company
-The Start-Stop system, fitted on a version of the Citroen C3 and on the Hyundai concept car ECO Getz 1.1 CRDi, represents a world first, as do the fixed central controls on the steering wheel and the infrared lane departure warning system co-developed with Citroen for the C4.
-This latest model - just like the new Citroen C5 - also features Bi-Xenon directional headlamps designed and produced by the Company. These ensure optimum lighting in all conditions, and in particular in bends.
-The LED headlamps on the Renault Fluence highlight the imagination and know-how of the Company's engineers. The design of these directional headlamps contributes to the elegance of this concept car.
