Japanese OEMs produce 4.3M vehicles, up 14.9% globally in Jan.-Feb. 2012 YoY
Japanese production declined 12.8% in 2011 to 8.4M while the ratio of Asian production expands

Summary
Japanese OEMs produced a total of 21.427 million vehicles worldwide in 2011, down by 6.1% over the previous year. Of the 2011 total, production in Japan, which suffered significantly from the Great East Japan Earthquake, fell by 12.8% over the previous year to 8.397 million units. Overseas production fell by 1.1% over the previous year to 13.03 million units; the percentage of production in Asia has been increasing. Exports from Japan were down by 7.8% over the previous year to 4.464 million units, affected by the appreciation of the yen.
Between January and February 2012, the eight Japanese passenger car manufacturers produced a total of 4.252 million units globally, up significantly by 14.9% year-on-year.
