-According to a report by GlobalData as of Q1 2026, global light vehicle sales are forecast to increase by 0.3% YoY to 92.35 mn.
-Today’s perspective of the global outlook is more conservative than it was three months ago. Major markets, including North America and Europe, have started 2026 on a weak footing. Therefore, any hope that a stronger base coming out of 2025 would lead to more optimism for 2026 has evaporated. The conflict in the Middle East has created further uncertainty in both the global economic outlook and the LV market. So far, we have made significant adjustments to the Middle East forecast for 2026 (a reduction of circa 700k vehicles vs the forecast three months ago). Further afield, we have trimmed markets that are more exposed to an energy shock, like Europe and Japan. As it stands, we forecast a 2026 result slightly above that of 2025, though the risks are clearly skewed to the downside.
