BYD RACCO Perceived Quality Survey: Instrument Panel
Comprehensive analysis of interior design and perceived quality
Summary
The RACCO, launched by BYD in Japan in July 2026, is the first mini (kei) electric vehicle from a Chinese manufacturer that complies with Japan's unique mini-vehicle standards. It targets the "super-height wagon" segment—the largest share of the kei car market—where interior spaciousness and usability are critical requirements. The vehicle utilizes "X-PACK," an innovative, integrated EV technology platform featuring a completely newly designed chassis, body, and drive control system. It is available in three trim levels: the 300Premium and 300Plus, which are equipped with a 35.84 kWh battery (offering a 320 km range under the WLTC cycle), and the 200, which features a 22.40 kWh battery (offering a 210 km range under the WLTC cycle).
MarkLines conducted a teardown analysis of the RACCO 200. As part of this process, the company examined the vehicle's instrument panel—a key interior component—to analyze its design features, focusing on aspects such as surface texture, aesthetic design, and component configuration.
