JMS 2025: Toyota unveils Corolla concept model and IMV Origin under the theme "To You”

On October 29, Toyota Motor Corporation President & CEO Koji Sato took to the stage at a press briefing at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, which is being held at Tokyo Big Sight (Press days: October 29-30, Public days: October 31-November 9).

The briefing began with the presentation of a Toyota corporate commercial under the theme “To You”. Toyota has been working to realize "Mobility for All" for some time, but the company believes that there is no single product that is the greatest common denominator for everyone. There is always one person in mind - "you" - so Toyota has decided to express its brand message in the words "To You." The company believes that if it continues to target “you," it will one day lead to "Mobility for All."

On stage, President Sato unveiled a concept model of the Corolla, which appeared at the end of the corporate commercial. The Corolla is a model that has evolved with the times and people's lifestyles, and is a symbol of making cars for someone aligning with the theme “To You”. President Sato stated that the Corolla concept model is packed with inventions to realize “a sense of caring for the Earth” and “wanting to drive a car that looks cool” that everyone has in common.

Next, he presented "IMV Origin," a project designed to target people living in rural Africa. This model incorporates two ideas aimed at the "you" in Africa. The first is "shipping from the production plant unfinished," which creates new jobs of assembling and completion in Africa. The second is "even after assembly, still to be defined”. Toyota builds the base, leaving it to the customer to complete the vehicle according to how it will be used, such as whether it will carry people or cargo, and what shape the cargo will be.

Furthermore, the "KAYOIBAKO" was introduced in line with the message that appeared in the "To You" commercial: "If you can't go, mobility will come to you." Mobility is not just about riding a vehicle; it also plays an important role in getting closer to you and delivering something to you. There are several sizes from XL to S. President Sato said, "Daihatsu makes the small boxes and Toyota makes the big ones." Also introduced were "boost me," a new form of mobility for the physically challenged, and "Kids mobi," a vehicle for children.

Daihatsu unveiled the Midget X and the rear-wheel drive K-OPEN under the theme "Daihatsumei [unique inventions] for me. Being small, we can do it. One thing at a time from small things.” On stage, President Sato introduced Daihatsu as a brand that has pursued "how to utilize technology that allows us to make things small."
