Thailand hikes fuel excise tax to offset revenue shortfall from EV incentives
On May 7, 2025, the Thai Royal Gazette announced the enforcement of an increase in the excise tax rate on diesel and gasoline, with an additional rise of up to THB 1 per liter. The move comes in response to a shortfall in government revenue, largely attributed to tax incentives for electric vehicles.
