August vehicle sales in Thailand up 6.8%, August production up 13.5%

According to MarkLines Data Center, August vehicle sales in Thailand increased 6.8% year on year to 67,962 units. January - August sales were up 10.2% to 543,117 units.
By brand sales in August, Toyota was down 24.3% to 16,009 units. Isuzu was up 16.6% to 12,784 units and Honda was up 11.3% to 10,712 units. Mitsubishi sales were up 33.8% to 5,503 units, and Ford sales were up 31.5% to 4,822 units.
By body type, passenger car sales were up 8.5% year over year to 26,868 units, while commercial vehicle sales were up 5.8% to 41,094 units. Pickup sales included in the commercial vehicle sales were up 10.1% to 33,399 units. The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) said that domestic sales in August increased on the back of launching of new models, increases of tourists and crop production as well as pick up in exports and private sector investments.
FTI announced that new vehicle production in August was 177,415 units, a 13.5% increase year on year. January - August production was down 1.2% to 1,287,472 units.
Vehicle exports in August were 102,907 units, up 9.3% for the first time in 14 months thanks to better demand in every region except the Middle East and Africa. Vehicle exports from January to August were down 7.5% to 729,328 units.
